Georgia Department of Labor Employment Services

Veteran Staff in each Georgia Department of Labor Career Center serve eligible veterans or persons who need assistance finding work, transitioning into the workforce, building career skills, credentialing military experience and training, and accessing state and federal veterans services. www.dol.state.ga.us

House of Heroes

House of Heroes serves our military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical/financial challenges. USO Activities at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

The USO Council of Georgia, Inc., coordinates volunteers and community groups throughout the state to assist the USO at Atlantas Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as they meet and greet troops arriving on R&R chartered flights. www.usogeorgia.org

Care For The Troops

Dedicated to the mental health care of returning troops and their families, Care for the Troops provides information and training to families, clinicians, congregation and community leaders so that they become more aware of the culture, unique symptoms and issues faced by military families. Military Spouse Residency Relief Act

On November 11, 2009, the President signed into law the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act. This Act, among other things, provides that when a service member leaves his or her home state in accord with military or naval orders, the service member's spouse may retain residency in his or her home state for voting and tax purposes, after relocating from that state to accompany the service member. In the State of Georgia an exemption from Georgia withholding tax may be claimed if an employees spouse is a member of the U.S. Armed Services and their state of legal residence is not Georgia.
