Washington D.C. (December 18, 2012) – Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today released the following statement regarding H.R. 3783, Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act of 2012.
“In the developing relationship between Iran and the United States, there are many important issues to be addressed. We should address them through diplomacy, not with threats, posturing and provocation.
“Instead of taking a cue from other nations who are trying to open up relationships with Iran, we are trying to limit other nations’ ability to develop relationships.
“The Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act creates another barrier to serious diplomacy with Iran. Another barrier to diplomacy makes violent conflict more likely. I cannot support this legislation,” said Kucinich.
