Greg Walden condemns terrorist attack in Algeria

Baker County resident Gordon Rowan among three Americans who lost their lives

January 21, 2013

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) today condemned the terrorist attack in Algeria, which claimed three Americans, including Baker County resident Gordon Rowan:

“I am deeply saddened to learn that Gordon Rowan, of Sumpter, was among those killed in the horrific terrorist attack in Algeria. I strongly condemn this attack on innocent civilians. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

“This is another reminder of the threat America faces from radical extremists around the globe. Throughout the week, I’ve been in close touch with the State Department and the Foreign Affairs and Intelligence committees in the House to learn more about the attack and the fate of the Americans there, including Gordon Rowan.  I pledge to work with the Administration and the committees in the House to gain a better understanding of what took place during the attack in Algeria so that we can better protect Americans at home and abroad.”
