Codeine played Bell House

New York City slow-core legends Codeine graced the Bell House in Brooklyn last night with a rare reunion show. The hour long set included a collaboration with Stephen Brodsky for the song “Cave-in”. Video of which is below.

The Best Brunch In Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick

Northeast Kingdom Shrimp & Grits (c/o Becky Quan)

Northeast Kingdom Shrimp & Grits (c/o Becky Quan)

With so many great places to eat in Williamsburg and its surrounding ‘burbs, finding the perfect spot for weekend brunch can be a hard decision.

Sure, you could wait in line for two hours at Egg or Five Leaves, listening to inane conversations about fixed gear bikes, Girls, and lofi shock-rap, but who wants to waste the whole day waiting for an egg sandwich when there are so many less-crowded places to choose from. (For those who possess more patience than us, Egg or Five Leaves both have fantastic food.)

Here’s our list of favorite places to have brunch.

Williamsburg Park Starting To Look More Like A Concert Space

Facebook

A lot is changing in the neighborhood today – not only is the McCarren Park Pool open for business, but construction on the stage at Williamsburg Park is officially underway. Concert series organizers posted this photo to Facebook today. The space looks different than it did the last time we saw it, but still looks mostly like a parking lot.

Checkout our Williamsburg Park Concerts page for more info on this summer’s series.

Lykke Li, MGMT, and Antony Cover Fleetwood Mac

Via East Village Radio

As we noted last week, there’s a whole hullabaloo going on in regards to Fleetwood Mac. No, the band’s not back together, but there are a great number of new and established talents who’ve joined forces for tribute compilation and we’re beginning to hear the first outputs. Best Coast’s live rendition of Rhiannon was, um, heard earlier this week, but we’re more amped on a few n00bs that are streaming today. MGMT goes for a 9-minute weirdo psych vocoder version of Future Games, Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li tugs at the heartstrings on Silver Springs and Antony provides a simply straight-forward and crisp take on Landslide.

Pre-order Just Tell Me What You Want: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac.
