King Of Yacht Rock, Michael McDonald, On Grizzly Bear B Side

Of course now we want to hear Grizzly Bear cover “Yah Mo B There.” [via]

Jay-Z And Beyonce Attend The Last Pool Party Of 2009

We were wondering who that was yesterday exiting the final Pool Party in a limo. Yep, Jay-Z and Beyonce are Grizzly Bear fans. A tipster sent us the pictures to prove it.
Yesterday’s Pool Party felt like the end of an amazing summer as 10,000 elated fans watched Grizzly Bear perform and the sun set over the New York skyline. JellyNYC pulled off an impressive set of shows including performances by Dirty Projectors, Girl Talk, Dan Deacon, and The Black Lips. It remains unclear if the series will return to the Williamsburg waterfront next year, but Chuck Schumer seems to be an advocate. As we snapped a picture we heard the Senator exclaim emphatically “this is great for Brooklyn.” We couldn’t agree more.

"Bored to Death" is Sooooo Brooklyn

bored-to-death-20090721100738710_640w.jpg
Remember “Bored to Death,” that upcoming series on HBO that’s about a bored writer living in Brooklyn who puts up an ad on Craigslist to become a private detective? Well, it’s kinda hitting close to home. The show was created by real-life (and no longer bored?) Brooklyn writer Jonathan Ames, was shot in Fort Green, and stars Williamsburg residents Olivia Thirlby and our beloved Zach Galifianakis. Zach, it’s worth noting, rides/rode his bike to work every day and hurt his knee! So, he’s limping, and they had to write his injury into the script. But of course, Ames says it “isn’t really about being a writer, or living in Brooklyn, or being a Brooklyn-based artsy person.” That’s all an aside. It’s a detective show! But in Brooklyn.

Sunday's Pool Party: Grizzly Bear & Beach House

Grizzly Bear – “Two Weeks”
It’s been a pretty amazing series, but alas the 2009 Pool Parties come to a close this Sunday with Beach House and Grizzly Bear. Uh, wow! After last week’s dance party with Girl Talk—8500 people attended—the line-up for Sunday promises to be a much more mellow scene, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be packed. Get there early if you want to get in without the hassle of waiting in a ridiculously long line.
4pm – Vega
5pm – Beach House
6:15pm – Grizzly Bear

Hipster Runoff On Last Week's Girl Talk Party

3852707434_9340a5468d_o.jpg

It seems like the Girl Talk is a ‘celebration of waste’, like they are just converting a local park into a ‘huge fucking dumpster.’

The entire post is hilarious and, best of all, ‘Carles’ used Clarissa’s photos to illustrate his point.

Drew Citron @ Joe's Pub

Drew Citron
sharing a bill with The Ramblers
Joe’s Pub – September 3rd @ 7PM
$12
Drew Citron loves Billy Bragg and is a jazzy, soulful and folky Brooklynite by way of San Francisco. Citron says she plays to crowds of adoring drunks, emotional roustabouts, and anyone else who cares for the heart-worn. If you fit any of the above descriptions you should you come to the show! Drew is such a sweetheart she’ll give you a free copy of her EP just for showing up with your drunk and or emotional face.
