Cakehead is back

Our favorite food blogger, Cakehead, is back after taking a much-too-long leave of absence. (She was in Rwanda, so we’ll forgive her). If you’re a fan of the spotty, yet occasionally hilarious Idiocracy, you’ll love her latest post.

Harmony Korine's Mr. Lonely

We’re willing to cut Harmony Korine some slack for the unwatchable Julien Donkey-Boy and for being a total fucking dick. He did direct Gummo after all. His latest, Mr Lonely, actually looks pretty interesting. From the IFC website

Only Harmony Korine (writer of KIDS, auteur of GUMMO, JULIEN DONKEY-BOY) could weave Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, her daughter Shirley Temple and flying nuns into a hypnotically funny and truly poignant tale of the instability behind fanaticism and the redemption we can hope to find in one another. The film follows a lonely Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna) who is invited by a beautiful Marilyn Monroe (Samantha Morton) to a commune full of other impersonators including the Queen of England, Madonna, Sammy Davis Junior and James Dean, in the Scottish Highlands. In a parallel story line, the incomparable Werner Herzog plays a Latin American priest who learns his missionary of nuns can literally fly.

Mexican 'Anti-Emos' Hate Skinny Jeans & Bright Eyes

antiemo2wf7.jpg
From Time via Buzzfeed

The trio of long-haired teenagers grasped the plaza wall to shield their bodies as hundreds of youths kicked and punched them while filming the beating on cell phone cameras. “Kill the emos,” shouted the assailants, who had organized over the Internet to launch the attack in Mexico’s central city of Queretaro. After police eventually steamed in and made arrests, the bloody victims lay sobbing on the concrete waiting for ambulances while the mob ran through the nearby streets laughing and cheering… more here

Hil's Numbers Matching Her Integrity…

They’re at an all-time low. (Sorry, that sounded like a Fat Albert joke). From MSNBC:

As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it’s not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg is introducing Obama this morning at Cooper Union. Sounds like an endorsement to us.
While we’re on the subject of Hillary, maybe her story about “dodging bullets” in Bosnia was true after all…
