Bonamici Statement on President Obama’s Second Inauguration

Jan 21, 2013

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today released the following statement following the second inauguration of President Barack Obama.

“President Obama today laid out a unifying message and a clear direction for his second term. From strengthening our economy and passing a budget that responsibly reduces our deficit, to reforming our immigration system, taking action to address climate change, and preventing gun violence, our country has some difficult decisions to make.

“One thing is clear: it’s time to get to work. For far too long, Congress has been mired in gridlock and partisanship with no clear agenda. Today the President set a course for the next four years. While there will be debate and differences, I believe that we can come together to find common ground. I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to achieve compromise and get things done. It’s time to put progress before partisanship.”
