The Cathedral hosted a memorial service for Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI). The Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop of Washington, officiated, and retired Rear Admiral Barry C. Black, the Senate chaplain, delivered the sermon. Reflections were offered by Gen. Eric Shinseki, the Hon. Harry Reid, President Clinton, and Vice President Biden. President Obama gave the tribute.
