  4. After what was a long week in Washington, D.C., I'm happy to be back home and spending time with normal people. We're crisscrossing Northern Nevada, from Owyhee to McDermitt, from Elko to Carson City, making stops at schools, the U.S. Fores...t Service, a fire department, a police department, tribal councils, county commissions, a chamber of commerce, a Rotary Club, a veterans' town hall, you name it. You cannot substitute getting together face-to-face with the Nevadans who gave you the job.See More

  6. Holding a veterans' town hall meeting in Fallon on Friday, January 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Fallon City Council Chambers, 55 West Williams Avenue.
  7. I respectfully decline to support a measure that raises $41 in revenue for every dollar of spending cuts (Congressional Budget Office). This is not a balanced approach. The status quo on the federal budget deficit and federal debt is not acceptable.
  8. Congress did not give itself pay raise. President did so with executive order. I fully support bill on House floor today to eliminate pay increase.
  9. House is in session today. Continuing to work on fiscal issues, dairy bill, and Sandy relief.
  10. U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) and Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today announced language will be included in this year’s defense authorization bill requiring the Department of Defense (DOD) to detail and address upcoming changes to TRICA...RE Prime. The plan is based on legislation introduced by Amodei and Congressman Greg Walden (OR-2) in the House and an amendment introduced by Heller and adopted into the National Defense Authorization Act in the Senate.See More
  11. Yesterday, Congressman Chris Murphy of Connecticut, who represents Newtown, made the following remarks on the House floor and then asked for a moment of silence in memory of the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary. In senseless circumstances, his words do honor to the victims and the community (click link for transcript):
  12. Nevada's deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with Newtown, CT.
