For over seventy-five years, the NCTE Books Program has published resources for teachers' professional development at every level, elementary through college.
NCTE books focus on current issues and problems in teaching, research findings and their application to classrooms, ideas for teaching all aspects of English, and other topics.

“I have long perceived NCTE as my ‘professional home,’ and it was reasonable and natural to turn to NCTE to publish research that I thought would have a significant impact on how we prepare and support English teachers. From initial inquiry to final publication, the staff at NCTE has been supportive, instructive, and generous. The editorial staff handled the book project with great care to craft a quality publication, consistently working collaboratively and respectfully with the authors.”—Thomas M. McCann, coauthor (with Larry R. Johannessen and Bernard P. Ricca) of Supporting Beginning English Teachers: Research and Implications for Teacher Induction
Although we're proud of our publications, we are not a vanity press. All projects undergo rigorous peer review by experts in the field. We don't typically publish anthologies or single-authored works of creative writing, personal journals, student writing, or dissertations not revised for book publication.
NOTE: The NCTE Books Program is not currently accepting unsolicited proposals.
