National Board Certified Teachers Now in All 50 States
There are more than 100,000 National Board Certified Teachers nationwide, with the addition of more than 4,900 new NBCTs who earned the credential in 2012, Francesca Duffy writes in this blog post. The states with the most NBCTs are North Carolina, Washington, and Illinois, but there now are NBCTs in all 50 states. The popularity and growth of the program comes at a time when the National Board has been tasked by the American Federation of Teachers with drafting standards for the teaching profession.
