About the International Reading Association (IRA)
IRA offers members new approaches to teaching literacy, easy ways to stay up to date on the latest research, and opportunities to connect with local literacy leaders.
The mission of the International Reading Association (IRA) is to promote reading by continuously advancing the quality of literacy instruction and research worldwide. The Association provides outstanding professional development and supports excellent teaching, critical research, and promotion of the lifetime reading habit.

An IRA membership can give you the inspiration, resources, and support you need to become a literacy leader. Since 1956, the International Reading Association has been a vibrant, global community of professionals committed to worldwide literacy.
IRA’s mission is to promote reading by continuously advancing the quality of literacy instruction and research worldwide. More than 60,000 members strong, the Association supports literacy professionals through outstanding professional development activities using a wide range of resources, as well as providing advocacy efforts and promoting volunteerism.
