Rep. Paul Gosar Issues Statement on Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S (R - AZ) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted 241-180 to pass The Disaster Relief Appropriations Act (H.R. 152). “I strongly support rebuilding our communities after natural disasters, and I am more than willing to support the people and businesses impacted by Hurricane Sandy, but that would not take over $50 billion taxpayer dollars. I refuse to vote for a bill stuffed with pork but sold as aid for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. We owe it to the taxpayers.” Rep. Gosar continued, “It seems the Democrats and their big-government allies continue to legislate by the mantra set forth by President Obama’s Former Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, who said, ‘Never let a crisis go to waste.’ These big spenders are intent on using this crisis to increase money on projects that have absolutely nothing to do with the damage Hurricane Sandy caused. Taxpayers and those in the affected areas need to know that recovery money is going toward recovery.” ### |
