German weapons systems maker Rheinmetall said it successfully tested a new 50kW high-energy weapon on fast moving airborne target drones and also used it to cut through metal from a kilometer away.

The tests, said the company, were conducted at the end of November, and encompassed the entire operational sequence from target detection and tracking to target engagement..
