Laser weapon tested on unmanned drone targets

German weapons systems maker Rheinmetall said it successfully tested a new 50kW high-energy weapon on fast moving airborne target drones and also used it to cut through metal from a kilometer away.

The tests, said the company, were conducted at the end of November, and encompassed the entire operational sequence from target detection and tracking to target engagement..

GSA hands Knowledge Consulting Group a $3.3 million task order for Assessment & Authorization (A&A) services

Matrox Mura MPX drives 12-monitor video wall at F1 Australian Grand Prix Race

Matrox Graphics announced on Jan. 7 that its Matrox Mura MPX Series video wall controller boards were selected to facilitate operations within a high-pressure Formula One Grand Prix race control room. 

The P.A. People, specializing in event communications, supplied the 2012 F1 Australian Grand Prix with a Matrox-validated Trenton TVC4401 video wall controller system that drove a 12-monitor installation. 

Segway and BCM Solutions team up to target the NASCAR market

Segway Inc. announced on Jan. 3 that it is teaming with BCM Solutions, Inc., one of the motorsports industry’s largest security providers.

The companies will exhibit together in Booth #13 at the NASCAR Security Summit in Concord, NC, from January 6-8, 2013.

Ameristar acquires prefab booth manufacturer Parking Booth Company

Ameristar Fence Products announced on Jan. 2 that it has recently acquired Parking Booth Company Inc., of Sun Valley, CA. Parking Booth Company Inc. has been a fixture in the prefabricated booth and building industry for more than 15 years. Its guard booth and directional traffic control products are recognized necessities for entry control all over the U.S., says Ameristar.
