  3. Starting Thursday, January 3, 2013, the first day of the new congressional term, my offices in Hazleton, Luzerne County; Carlisle, Cumberland County; Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County; and Sunbury, Northumberland County will open to provide constituent services to the redrawn 11th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. For more information about these offices visit http://1.usa.gov/WenIDh.
  4. Join me in sending thoughts, prayers, and best wishes to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as she recovers.
  5. Join me in offering condolences to the family and friends of former Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, who served the country with distinction.
  6. On behalf of my family and staff, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you have a meaningful holiday spent with your family and friends.
  7. In an interview with NPR, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says border security is heading in the right direction. Do you agree with Secretary Napolitano’s assessment? And what should the Homeland Security committee do to secure our borders? Let me know what you think. http://n.pr/WtGGrO
  8. Thanks to everyone who donated to the 2012 Toys for Tots campaign. Toys that were collected in my district offices (and these are just some of them) were sent to the program warehouse this afternoon.

  9. I’d like to remind my constituents that my offices near Wilkes-Barre and Taylor close at 5 p.m. today. Constituents can contact my Hazleton office for assistance. http://1.usa.gov/U0QgQK
  10. I’m very pleased to announce the locations of three new offices in Carlisle, Lower Paxton Township, and Sunbury, which will serve the redrawn 11th District in 2013. During my first two years in office, my constituent service representative...s handled more than 4,500 cases, and they resolved about 95 percent of them. The redrawn 11th District is very large, and I want to make sure my constituents don’t have to travel very far to go into a congressional office. For more information about these offices, visit http://1.usa.gov/T7WSyd.See More
  11. I offer my sincerest condolences to Robert Bork's family and friends. As a former federal judge and Supreme Court nominee, he was a conservative political figure for more than four decades.
  12. A new audit says that some 800,000 illegal aliens are living in the U.S. after they were ordered deported but have not yet left or been removed by the government. The program that’s supposed to weed out illegal aliens has instead allowed th...em to work in sensitive areas of airports and get government benefits such as Medicaid or food stamps. Failures include illegal aliens who applied for unemployment and disability insurance, food stamps, driver’s licenses and other benefits. Several of those illegal aliens had criminal records, including assault with a deadly weapon, extortion, drug convictions, burglary, stalking, and child abuse. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/dec/18/audit-feds-immigration-check-system-fails-12-perce/

How should the U.S. government make sure that illegal aliens who are ordered to be deported actually leave the country?
