There are three main ways to change the information on Google Maps:
- Report a problem: Is the new housing development in your town not on the map? Are streets missing or roads renamed? Report a problem enables you to tell us about changes in the world around you that aren't reflected in Google Maps. It's also a tool for letting us know of any edits or suggestions you have for Google Maps.
- Fix a problem: You may see a place on the map that isn’t there anymore (or perhaps was never there in the first place), is closed, is a duplicate of another listing, or contains private information. Fix a problem allows you to edit details related to businesses and similar locations.
- Map Maker: Map the places you know! In areas where Map Maker is available, you can edit map data directly.

Why can't I make an edit or report a problem? If the Edit or Report a problem link is greyed out or doesn’t exist, this is because the business owner has already verified information for that business in Google Places, and verified listings can only be edited by the owner. If a listed business is yours, claim your business.
How do I report concerns based on applicable laws?
Please visit our legal troubleshooter to report content that you believe warrants removal from Google's services based on applicable laws.
What is the review and corrections process?
Once we've received your edit or suggestion we'll confirm it with other users, data providers, or Street View imagery. If you submit your email address when you submitted your report, we'll keep you posted on the progress of your suggestion or edit. As more people tell us about the issue, we'll have more information that we can use to verify the fix we need to make.
What if I make an error during my submission?
As we noted in the review and correction process, we confirm all edits and suggestions against a variety of sources, so your report will not cause any changes to the map data if we cannot verify that it's valid. In addition, you can resubmit a new report and reference your original Problem ID to ensure we take the appropriate action.
Reporting errors to other data providers
Our data providers are listed in the lower right-hand corner of the map. In some cases, you may have to zoom in to see the specific provider for an area. If the data provider is Tele Atlas and you want to report an error directly to them, use the Map Insight system. If you don't find your local data provider in the above list and Map Maker isn't available, please locate the correct data provider and contact them directly.
