WASHINGTON – Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today welcomed new and returning majority members to the House Armed Services Committee:

I have had an opportunity to meet with each of them and know they appreciate that their membership carries a unique responsibility. We are charged with ensuring that America's military is capable of meeting the expected and unexpected threats to peace and security around the world. After a decade of hard fighting, we must help our men and women in uniform meet those challenges in an era of declining resources. As we do so, we are ever mindful that our service on the Committee must honor the service our troops give to the nation.
