National Debt Hits $16 Trillion PDF Print

(HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo.)—Today, the United States hit another sobering milestone, as the national debt surpassed $16 trillion.
U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Aurora, released the following statement regarding Washington’s out of control spending—

National Debt hits $16 TRILLION

“As chair of the Congressional Balanced Budget Amendment Caucus, I am working with members of both parties to create a constitutional mechanism that ensures the government doesn’t spend more than it takes in.  Having a balanced budget isn’t a novel idea--millions of families and small businesses across nation live within their means, and our government should be expected to do no less.”

“There is no other way to put it—our country is in trouble if we do not immediately get government spending under control.  Members of both parties are to blame for the massive spending that has hampered our economy, stifled job growth and has put our nation’s security at risk.  But the time for pointing fingers is over.  Instead, we need solutions. “
