A soldier with the Afghanistan National Army's 4th Kandak, 1st Infantry Brigade, 203rd Afghan Army Corps, fires a Russian made D-30 122mm howitzer during a joint training live-fire exercise with soldiers from Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans," 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), at Camp Clark, Oct. 13, 2012. The ANA heavy artillery battery fired a 10-round live-fire training mission testing their capabilities of executing a fire mission while U.S. soldiers provided assistance with mentorship and their expertise. It is this type of partnership that is enabling the Afghan army to take the lead.
