Storm-Affected Steve's Key Lime Pie to Relocate in April

steveskeylime.jpgSteve's Authentic Key Lime Pie in Red Hook was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The space took on several feet of water, and much of the shop's inventory was destroyed. The company was able to reopen in December, but now DNAinfo learns that owners Steve Tarpin and Victoria Gomez plan to move their operation to a brand new space in the neighborhood.

The new facility inside Pier 40 is three times bigger than the current one in Pier 41. Tarpin and his wife ultimately decided that it would be better to spend their money on a new facility than to rebuild the old one. Tarpin explains:

The opportunity came up for us to make the move, and there were some very compelling reasons to do this...We already have a letter of intent from our landlord for something that will secure us for the next decade.
Tarpin and Gomez started a Go Fund Me campaign after the storm to raise money for renovations. So far, people have donated over $12,000. They plan to move on April 1.
