African American Museums
Baltimore's African American museums provide a unique insight into the history of Baltimore, Maryland and the nation. Our museums include the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture and the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum which features over 100 African American visionaries and exhibits. America's first wax museum explores Black History and culture from African heritage and slavery, through freedom and civil rights movements, to today's inspiring leaders and role models.
For those of you looking to gain some insight from an historical perspective, the Great Blacks in Wax Museum is the place to be. America's first wax museum featuring Black History and culture, the museum features over 100 life-size wax figures.
And if you're yearning for a hint of something different, make time to see either the National Museum of Dentistry or the Fire Museum of Maryland.
