Academy Nominations
Military Academy Nominations
Every year Congressman Schrader will nominate a select group of candidates for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at King’s Point. Securing a congressional nomination does not guarantee an offer of admission or an appointment to a military academy, but is a critical step in the highly competitive application process.
Students seeking a congressional nomination from Congressman Schrader must fulfill the following requirements by July 1st of the year they would enter the academy:
• Applicants must be legal U.S. Citizens
• Applicants must be between 17 and 22 years old
• Applicants must be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents
• Applicants must live in Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District
To request an academy nomination packet, please contact Congressman Schrader’s office at 503-588-9100. All nomination packets must be completed and received by Congressman Schrader by Friday, December 14, 2012.
