Residential Trash Collection
Collection Schedules
The City has two residential refuse collection schedules, one on Monday and Thursday, and the other on Tuesday and Friday. Mondays and Tuesdays are for trash collection and Thursdays and Fridays are for recycling collection.
  • Yard waste collections are normally made on Wednesdays.
  • When there is a holiday during the week, Wednesdays are also reserved for refuse collections.
  • If there is a holiday on Monday, Monday's trash collection is covered on Tuesday and Tuesday's trash collection is rescheduled for Wednesday.
  • Similarly, if a holiday falls on Friday, Thursday's recycling collection is made on Wednesday and Friday's recycling collection is rescheduled for Thursday.
  • Refer to Newark Channel 22 or the newspaper for changes in collection schedules.

Exceptions to Schedule
There is no refuse collection on the following holidays:
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Presidents' Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
