  4. Hunt at Louviers Stormwater Retrofit Informational Meeting

    January 15, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ City of Newark Council Chambers

    The City was awarded a DNREC Community Water Quality Improvement grant to retrofit the three stormwater detention ponds in the Hunt at Louviers. These ponds will undergo minor changes that will help improve water quality, and the health of a small tributary to the White Clay Creek. Homeowners in the Hunt at Louviers are encouraged to come and view the concept plans, learn more about the benefits of this low impact stormwater management practice, and see how you can be a part of it.   5. Neighborhood Workshop for Comprehensive Development Plan for Northern Areas in Newark

    The Comprehensive Development Plan is a strategic policy document that provides a vision for the community’s future, addresses both short and long-term planning concerns, and provides a rational basis for local land use decisions. The State of Delaware requires all local governments to prepare and adopt comprehensive plans, and to review those plans every five years. This is the fifth update of the City’s Comprehensive Development Plan since the City’s first long range comprehensive plan adopted in 1969.

    We are excited to announce the American Cancer Society 2011 Central New Castle County Relay For Life kick off meeting, which will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Newark High School, 750 E. Delaware Ave., Newark, DE 19711. Learn about Relay. The money raised at Relay enables the American Cancer Society to deliver on its mission of helping people stay well, helping people get well, finding cures and fighting back against the disease. Learn about volunteer opportunities. Local volunteers are a huge part of a nationwide effort to save lives from cancer, but additional people are needed for the progress to continue. Join an existing Relay team or start a new team! Now is the time for individuals, families, community groups, corporations and small businesses to commit their Relay For Life team participation.     Downtown Newark’s annual Restaurant Week hosts a culinary celebration highlighting downtown’s diverse restaurants and their offerings. Downtown Newark’s Restaurant Week is known for its affordability and great food in a fun and vibrant area. From Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27, nineteen downtown Newark restaurants will offer special menus highlighting the best they have to offer at the right price. Three tiers of prix fixe meals are offered, with some restaurants offering more than one tier during the week! Each restaurant develops specific menus for the week according to their clientele and tier(s). Downtown Newark welcomes newcomer Taverna Rustic Italian to this year’s Restaurant Week.     The focus will be primarily on African and Mideast rhythms, but all drumming is welcome.
