VA Mentor Protégé Program*
The purpose of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Mentor Protégé Program (MPP) is to provide developmental assistance to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) that will enhance their capabilities to perform as prime contractors and subcontractors on VA procurements.
Under the VA MPP, Protégé firms must be Verified SDVOSB or VOSB. Mentors shall confirm eligibility of Protégés by documenting the Verified status of Protégés in the Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database. Protégés must maintain Verified status throughout the term of the Mentor-Protégé Agreement. Failure to do so shall result in cancellation of the Agreement.
The VA Mentor Protégé Program is not a contracting program. A Mentor Protégé Agreement does not create a Joint Venture agreement.
VA MPP is not a funded program. The incentives for Mentor firms are:
Mentors and Protégés are responsible for finding their own counterparts.
PLEASE NOTE: Under VA MPP, no degree of ownership of the Protégé firm by the Mentor firm is allowed.
*At this time, the Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP) is not accepting applications. The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) wants to make sure the MPP provides a real benefit to participants. Towards the achievement of this goal, OSDBU is researching how the VA can maximize the use of the evaluation factors on the MPP. Please check this web page periodically for updates and announcements. If you have questions regarding the MPP, please direct them to Milagros Ortiz, the primary point of contact for this program.
