Congresswoman Jenkins talks with Kansans at her 2010 Jobs Fair
There has been a lot of talk in Washington about fiscal responsibility lately. It is time for the rhetoric to end, and for Congress to be responsible with your dollars. This will mark the third straight year that the federal budget deficit will exceed $1 trillion, and in the meantime, the U.S. debt has topped $14 trillion. That is why I have joined my House colleagues in voting to cut billions of dollars in spending for the remainder of the current fiscal year, as well as a 2012 budget proposal that will cut $6.2 trillion in spending over the next decade compared to the President’s budget. Americans and economist alike believe that cutting government spending will encourage economic growth and job creation, and I will continue to stand up for hard-working American taxpayers by opposing wasteful and irresponsible government spending.
