As the outdoors editor for the state's largest daily newspaper for more than 20 years, Terry Tomalin has fished and boated his way from Pensacola to Key West. An avid inshore and offshore angler, scuba diver, power boater and sailor, he has traveled the world and still believes Florida is the best place on earth. Terry Gibson, raised in South Florida's woods and waters, is one of the state's most prolific outdoor writers. He has spent his life fishing, surfing, diving and hunting across the world. And he's firmly of the belief that there's no place like home.

The Florida Keys will light up this holiday season. Credit: Key Colony Beach Community Association
The Florida Keys are getting ready to light up for the holidays. Boat parades are planned from Key Largo to Key West and visitors can watch from land, an excursion boat or even decorate their own craft with lights and join the fun.
The action kicks off tonight with the Key Largo Boat Parade. Blackwater Sound will shimmer as boaters deck the hulls in this create-your-own-theme contest where the top entrant wins a prize and his or her 2012 theme becomes the overall theme of 2013 parade. Click here to learn more.
Then head to the Boot Key Harbor Lighted Christmas Boat Parade in Marathon. A favorite Middle Keys holiday event, dinghies, mega-yachts and every other type of vessel imaginable will cruise the harbor. Click here to learn more.
On Sunday, the Key Colony Beach Lighted Boat Parade will feature Christmas lights on outriggers, Santa’s elves and brightly lit deck displays. The parade is open to all boats and the route visits canals and cuts, and passes city hall three times. Click here to learn more.
On Saturday, Dec. 15, check out the Lower Keys Lighted Boat Parade where all boats are welcome to enter the parade including deep-sea cruisers, dinghies, kayaks and canoes. Santa and Mrs. Claus are expected to arrive and hand out candy to the kids.
Another option is the Schooner Wharf Bar & Galley/Ultimat Vodka Lighted Boat Parade in Key West. Tiny rowboats, tall ships and everything in between proceed around Key West's Historic Seaport and harbor areas. Click here to learn more.
