Pastel Cottages Covered with Jasmine.
Tradewinds Resort is located on quaint Anna Maria Island in the Gulf of Mexico off Southwest Florida's fabled Sun Coast. This charming, old-fashioned resort has pastel cottages covered with tangles of jasmine and bougainvillea that look like something seen on a postcard a century ago. The romantic cottages line both sides of a private street that ends at a large heated pool set among palm trees, and a fishing pier that juts into Sarasota Bay. Just across Gulf Drive, at our sister resort of Tortuga, is a private white sand beach beside that glorious turquoise water you're coming for - and sunset views that promise to break your heart with their beauty.
Affordable Charm with Tropical Flair. Each of the 33 one-bedroom Apartments at Tradewinds is stylishly decorated with tropical furnishings and soft colors, and has a full kitchen, bedroom and bath with tub/shower, a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, and a private front porch or verandah. There is one Studio suite with glimpses of the Gulf of Mexico across the dunes, and, in a separate Bayfront cottage, a two-bedroom/two bath Apartment and two one-bedroom Apartments fronting Sarasota Bay. A community laundry is available on the premises for our guests’ use. Also, numerous charcoal BBQ grills are set beside arbors shaded with flowering vines, with picnic tables beneath for al fresco dining. In addition to its relaxed family appeal, Tradewinds is known for being a great value, offering affordable rates throughout the year. Tradewinds Resort is pet friendly!
Laid-Back Anna Maria Island. On our famously laid-back little island, you’ll find surprisingly good restaurants and shops, as well as water sports facilities, boat rentals and charters – with golf and tennis not far away. Street fairs, craft shows and musical events are held frequently – take the popular free trolley that runs from one end of the island to the other. Of course, bird viewing is always a great sport: wonderful wild shorebirds like pelicans, blue herons, oystercatchers, and many others – like the bubblegum-pink roseate spoonbills – show up all over the place, as do dolphins and the occasional manatee. If you’re lucky, you might even catch an enormous loggerhead turtle lumbering across the sand at night to lay her eggs – loggerheads visit the island from May through November. Read Less
