I'm a native Floridian from Orlando, back in the heyday of Old Florida. My passion for exploration took me and my motorcycle on adventures to seek out a different side of the Sunshine State. Join me as we break the city limits to explore remote (and not-so-remote) destinations, visit funky diners and meet native Floridians, all while in search of those kitsch-cool attractions and events.

Strawbery shakes are what the public wants. Credit: Knaus Berry Farm
You don’t have to travel too far from Miami to find you’re off the beaten path.
Head to the Redland area and you’ll find the Knaus Berry Farm, which for more than 50 years has been tempting travelers with farm-fresh strawberries selected from the u-pick farm. These very same berries are also the main ingredient in Knaus's thick strawberry milkshakes.
There are no neon signs or towering buildings to announce you’ve reach Knaus’s – it’s a rather spare building where, in addition to fresh strawberries and milkshakes, you can scan a menu that includes canned preserves, pies (fruit, shoo-fly, Key lime, etc.), cakes, bread, jams, jellies, cookes, and sticky buns.
Miami may be close by, but when you’re parked out here beside these low, level Florida fields, you could be in another world.
