Is one of your New Year's Resolutions to save money? Do we even need a resolution for that?

If you're new to my blog, you'll find that I'm a little obsessed with golf deals. I consider greens fees similar to airfares -- I'm going to avoid paying full freight whenever possible.

All of us Insiders at VISIT FLORIDA receive emails and notices about deals from attractions, resorts, restaurants, you name it, including golf courses. I'll try to pass along as many as I can here, from Milton to Miami and everywhere in between.

One question I get from readers is "how can I find out about all these deals at the same time you do?" Well, I'll tell you one way that gets better all the time -- email, Facebook and Twitter. Facilities like World Woods in Brooksville and Orange County National in Orlando, to name just two, are fantastic at sending out last-minute deals through email and social media; if you're a part of their pipeline, you'll get the scoop quickly.

Take a few minutes to hunt down all your favorite courses online and get on their messaging lists or social media feeds, and you'll be on the way to big savings.

A good place to start if you're looking for Northeast Florida deals is Florida's First Coast of Golf, a not-for-profit that exists to promote all the great golf from Amelia Island to Palm Coast and all points in between. Bookmark their deals page and check it regularly for a variety of stay-and-plays.

Bay Point Resort Golf Club in Panama City Beach, with two courses in the Nicklaus and the Meadows, is offering a six-pack special valid through March 31, 2013. Buy six rounds for $239 and play either course with a cart at any time on any day, with a seven-day advance booking window. Two passes per day may be used, so the pack can be shared. TPC Sawgrass and the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach have a stay-and-play through Jan. 31, 2013, that includes two nights of accommodations and two rounds (on the Stadium Course and Dye’s Valley Course) plus a free third night at the hotel and a free arrival round (after 2 p.m.) on Dye’s Valley.
