WASHINGTON - Congressman Joe Heck (NV-03) today released the following statement recognizing the 11th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

"Eleven years ago today, we watched in shock as our country suffered unimaginable attacks against innocent civilians that resulted in more than 3,000 of our fellow Americans losing their lives. Today, we remember those who were lost in the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, and on Flight 93. While September 11, 2001 will always be one of our country's darkest hours, it also marks one of our finest moments as our nation united to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice and ensure that the lives lost were not in vain.

"On Patriot Day, we reflect upon the terrible tragedy we suffered as a nation, the selfless acts of heroism we witnessed in the wake of the attacks as public safety first responders and average citizens alike rushed into the rubble and chaos seeking to save anyone they could find, and remember all of our service men and women who responded and continue to respond to the call of duty to make the world a safer place."
