The Effect of Debt on American Families

Saw this really neat guy on PBS. He rightly claimed Social Security is not an entitlement even though the entire world thinks it is. It's a retirement fund 100% bankrolled by by workers. Not a cent comes from the US government budget. The reason it has been named an entitlement is so the Federal government can steal the money just like Enron and Worldcom and every company and state out there that used to have a pension fund but hey we don't do that anymore. You need a 401k.

The best way to solve our financial problems is to put Pelosi, Reed and Obama in a raft and drop them off in the middle of the Ocean.

My friend, neighbors thought it was a good idea for me to take a loan out on my house so I could have some extra money to spend, I said to them, "what are you crazy"? As she remortgaged her home and lost it I might add. You sound frustrated, agitated and confused which is why I suggested you need help. I am now a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S. Like so many other foolish Americans, I helped bring in Obama in 08. The biggest mistake of my life. But I've never had debt and I've taught my children to never get into debt. We used credit cards for convenience. The only debt I've ever carried was a mortgage. If I couldn't pay cash for a car I wouldn't buy one. It is dummies like you that have ruined America.

It sounds like you were one of the suckers who jumped in on the mortgage scam and lost your property. Have you ever considered living in Iceland? We had some Icelanding neighbors in Westchester County. Nice folks. Very quiet, rather shy. Highly educated. They didn't read dumb blogs. The only other thing I know about them was through the late Bishop Pocock, head of the Catholic Church in Canada. He took vacations in Iceland because they have no Catholics there and so they didn't bother him.

Let's start with NO MORE WELFARE FOR BABYMAKERS! Firstly, because it's not fair to the children. To be brought into this world for money and not love is a sin. If you have no means to feed & support a child, the state should take it and raise it. I guarantee, it would have a better shot at a life than being brought up by some of these uneducated, classless, morons! If you think this doesn't happen, you are sadly mistaken. & it's OUR FAULT as taxpayers, ENOUGH!

If we stop talking percentages and entitlements and give people examples of how govt. waste affects their paychecks, they will "get it" You would be surprised at how many people do not know what "BIG GOVERNMENT" means! Scary. I heard a stat today. Something like 160,000 new positions in the federal govt. and 600,000 in state and local governments! People need to be informed in a way they understand.  Tell them how much will be coming out of their weekly paychecks & they WILL get involved!

Why can't we have congreess declare war on whoever holds the debt unless they foregive us who holds are debt

It's a wealth redistribution program, just like any other. People who are on welfare pay taxes too. But some people (typically Republicans) want to pretend that their welfare program is not like all the others that take money from one group and give it to another. There's no "retirement program", there's no "paying into". The government takes the money from working people and gives it to other people who are not working. Just like every other welfare program.You can't "earn" a welfare check.
