Around the League

NFL head-coaching search tracker

Seven coaches were fired on Black Monday. It's hiring season now.

We'll have all the news covered in Around the League, but come back to our head-coaching search tracker for a one-stop shop of all the latest news.

Here's what we know about the open jobs after the Kansas City Chiefs hired Andy Reid and the Buffalo Bills chose Doug Marrone:

Arizona Cardinals

Interview list: Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

Other notes: The Cardinals wanted to talk to Andy Reid, but he never made it to Arizona after speaking with the Kansas City Chiefs. ... The Cardinals requested permission to interview Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley, but it's unclear if Haley took the interview.

Chicago Bears

Interview list: The Bears' interview list is up to 13 names, with most of them on the offensive side of the ball. Here goes: Houston Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub, Minnesota Vikings linebackers coach Mike Singletary, Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan, Atlanta Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements.

Other notes: Bears general manager Phil Emery wants his head coach in place by Jan. 19. Although Jimmy Johnson tweeted Friday morning that CFL coach Marc Trestman got the job in Chicago, there has been no official word from the team and NFL.com's Albert Breer and Ian Rapoport confirm the Bears will continue their head-coach search. Rapoport reported the Bears will interview Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on Sunday.

Cleveland Browns

Browns name Rob Chudinski coach: The Browns announced Thursday night that Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudinski will be their head coach. Chudzinski had not interviewed with any other teams until meeting with the Browns on Wednesday.

The Browns earlier made a push to sign their No. 1 target, Chip Kelly, but he ultimately spurned them to stay at Oregon. Penn State coach Bill O'Brien and new Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone also met with the Browns. Former Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt interviewed for a second time Thursday. One report suggested the Browns had interest in former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, but ProFootballTalk.com quickly shot down that possibility.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Interview list: St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker.

Other notes: The Jaguars fired Mike Mularkey on Thursday, a week and a half after the end of the regular season. New general manager David Caldwell was familiar with Mularkey from their time in Atlanta, but it made sense for him to start fresh. Caldwell and San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman are old friends. He is a logical target.

Philadelphia Eagles

Interview list: Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Atlanta Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong, Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan.

Other notes: The Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden will meet Monday about the team's head coaching position. The Eagles, like the Browns, swung and missed on Oregon coach Chip Kelly. The Eagles also spoke with Penn State coach Bill O'Brien before he decided to stay in school. They're now interested in another college coach, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, whom they interviewed Tuesday, NFL.com's Albert Breer reported.

San Diego Chargers

Interview list: Former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith, former Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

Other notes: The Chargers wanted to hire their general manager before setting up any talks with head-coaching candidates. Now Tom Telesco is in place. The team announced Friday that it interviewed Lovie Smith. Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians admitted he's interested in the job now that Telesco, a former Colts exec, is in the Chargers' front office. The Chargers will also interview Jay Gruden for their head coaching position, per a club source.
