Fortnight for Freedom Grassroots Action Plan

June 21 – July 4

Catholics have been asked by our bishops to take action in defense of our religious liberty in the two weeks leading up to the 4th of July — a “Fortnight for Freedom.”

This is necessary because the Obama Administration has engaged in a stunning attack on our right to practice our faith, most notably by mandating that virtually all employers, including religious employers like Catholic charities, schools, and hospitals, provide free abortion inducing-drugs, contraception, and sterilization in their health plans.

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

Saint Thomas More, Patron of Religious Freedom, Pray for us!

O God our Creator,

from your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.
We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.
Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be “one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

This video is in response to the claims of the “New Atheism.” One that has been presented by the likes of Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and the late Christopher Hitchens. One who holds faith is NOT irrational. Science and reason are not incompatible with faith in fact they compliment each other very well because they come from the same source, God. Santorum Launches Patriot Voices to Defeat President Obama and Mobilize One Million Conservatives

Patriot Voices is a grassroots and online community of Americans from across the country committed to promoting faith, family, freedom and opportunity in accordance with the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Chicago, IL – Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum announced today the launch of a new organization, Patriot Voices, which will mobilize one million conservatives around this country who are committed to promoting faith, family, freedom and opportunity.

As a candidate for President, Rick Santorum earned the support of millions of conservatives and energized countless Americans who felt no one was representing their views. Senator Santorum’s 11-state victory reminded voters that conservative values are alive and well all across America.

Patriot Voices, with the goal of recruiting one million members, is a grassroots and online community of Americans from across the country who stand together to affect change that otherwise could not be accomplished alone.

Former Senator Santorum said, “Patriot Voices is committed to promoting faith, family, freedom and opportunity. We are also a voice for those who often cannot fight for themselves – the unborn, the disabled, the elderly, and those struggling economically in these difficult times,” Santorum continued.

“With a goal of 1 million voices united, Patriot Voices will transform the political landscape of our country, and we will defeat President Obama this November,” Santorum concluded.

Patriot Voices will also work closely with the Red White and Blue fund to offer financial and other political to support candidates who will stand up for conservative values.

Patriot Voices will focus on the following core issue areas:

We stand for the defeat of Barack Obama and those who support his radical agenda. We cannot afford four more years of his disastrous policies.

We stand for healthy families and a healthy economy. We want to expand opportunities for all Americans by advocating policies that encourage traditional marriage, support children and free enterprise. Healthy families help produce a healthy economy.
We stand for freedom and its defenders. We stand with our military and veterans.We stand with Israel and against the threats and values of Radical Islam, and we believe that the Iranian Regime can never obtain nuclear weapons. We believe in a strong national defense including a missile defense system, which give us the ability to defend ourselves and our allies.
We stand for the repeal of Obamacare and other government dependency programs that infringe on our freedoms, including religious freedom. The overreach of government under President Obama will continue to erode the freedoms that our country was founded on if not stopped.
We stand for renewing America as an economic power by protecting our innovative spirit, restarting our manufacturing capabilities and unleashing America’s domestic energy potential through pro-growth tax and regulatory reforms that also strengthen working families, struggling communities, and our national security.
We will always stand up for the most vulnerable among us- the unborn, the disabled, the elderly and the poor. We believe in the dignity of each and every human life and we will support policies that ensure the value of each person.

One of Sofia’s family members has been hospitalized this week and has to have surgery tomorrow morning. It has been a shock to the whole family and Sofia asks for prayers tomorrow from all of you who have been so generous praying for her.

God sends us only what we can handle and what we need, not what we want. In that thought, Sofia’s family member has seen his priest and is joyously obedient in doing God’s Will.

We ask Our Lady of Good Help, (the only recognized apparition site honoring Our Lady in the United States in the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Saint Joseph and Saint Therese, the patrons of Always Catholic Blog to intercede in this case and bring healing to this very humble and generous person.

I will be in my new home town of Madison, Wisconsin at the Stand Up Rally for Religious Freedom. Why?

Simple… If I am to be “Always Catholic” then I must put my money where my mouth is. I started AlwaysCatholicBlog because of challenges in our lives like the forced HHS Mandate. If I am not to stand with Christ and His Church, then I am against it.

Think it’s not a possibilty? Hmmmm, I wonder if there were 1st century Catholics who disagreed on that point on their way to their deaths?

Be Prepared for the OPPOSITION!

HHS Mandate Fact Sheet Now Available

If you attend one of 140 Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom locations Friday, June 8th, you’re sure to get questions from passersby like, “What are you guys doing here?” and “What is the HHS Mandate, anyway?”

That’s why we’ve prepared an HHS Mandate Fact Sheet [PDF] for organizers to distribute to the general public, which contains FAQ style questions and answers on the HHS Mandate, along with plus some practical action items for continuing the fight.

The Fact Sheet addresses the following questions:

What is the HHS Mandate and how does it violate religious freedom?
Isn’t this really all about providing access to contraception?
Didn’t President Obama work out these religious objections?
What can I do to help stop the HHS Mandate?

We recommend that organizers print enough copies of the Fact Sheet to distribute to everyone who attends a Rally, and enough additional copies to give out to passersby who are interested in learning more about the HHS Mandate and its assault on religious freedom.
