Navigation
Division Responsibilities
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office’s Navigation Division patrols four lakes in Schuyler County, Seneca Lake,Cauyta Lake, Waneta, and Lamoka Lakes.

The division’s deputies operate two patrol boats - a 25-foot OMC Hydro Sport that is assigned to Seneca Lake and an 18-foot Nitro bay boat that is trailered to patrol the smaller lakes.

Boater Safety Courses

The Navigation Division offers boater safety courses throughout the year. If you are interested in taking a course, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (607) 535-8222 for course dates and sign-up sheets.

Boaters are reminded that as of January 1, 2004, it became mandatory that every person who operates a personal watercraft must have successfully completed a boaters safety course. It is also mandatory for children between 10 and 18 years of age to have completed a boaters safety course if they are going to operate any type of motorized vessel when there is not a person at least 18 years of age in the boat to supervise.
