The New York State Office of Mental Health is making continued efforts to ensure that our facilities remain operational.

We would like to remind facility-based employees that, even in the event that the Governor excuses non-essential State employees due to the storm, ALL FACILITY-BASED EMPLOYEES ARE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL AND ARE EXPECTED TO REPORT TO WORK, if possible. If you have particular transportation needs which you are unable to resolve, please contact your facility supervisor for direction.

South Beach Psychiatric Center inpatients have been relocated, with the adults being cared for at either Creedmoor Psychiatric Center or Bronx Psychiatric Center, and adolescents being cared for at the Queens campus of NYC Children's Center (formerly Queens CPC). Staff should report as directed by their supervisor.

Individuals wishing to contact patients or staff from South Beach Psychiatric Center who have been relocated should contact the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center Incident Command Center at 718-264-4221 or 718-264-4224.

The NEW YORK CITY FIELD OFFICE will be CLOSED EXCEPT FOR ESSENTIAL STAFF on Friday, November 2, 2012. Essential staff are being defined as those Grade 23 or above.

The LONG ISLAND FIELD OFFICE will be OPEN on Friday, November 2, 2012.

NEW YORK CITY PATIENT RESOURCE OFFICES and LONG ISLAND PATIENT RESOURCE OFFICES will also be CLOSED on Friday, November 2, 2012.

SAGAMORE CHILDREN'S PSYCHIATRIC CENTER in Dix Hills, Long Island is currently working with limited communications capabilities.Inquiries about patients and staff may be made to the following phone number: 631-370-1700.

Individuals within New York City, Nassau County or Suffolk County who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy may contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency to apply for assistance at 1-800-621-3362.

The Office of Mental Health's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded crisis counseling programs assist New York State residents to recover from the disasters caused by the 2011 tropical storm floods. What's New?

Pursuant to Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2011, at least 30 days notice is required prior to the closure of wards at a state-operated psychiatric center; and at least 60 days notice is required prior to the closure, consolidation or merger of any hospitals operated by the Office of Mental Health and listed in section 7.17 (b) of the Mental Hygiene Law.
