Set up your profile
Your profile is where people can find out the latest about you. Choose a profile picture that helps friends recognize you, then add a short introduction and other details that describe who you are. You can use your circles to decide who sees what.
Choose a cover photo
A fun cover photo makes a great first impression when people visit your profile. So choose a big, beautiful image (at least 940 pixels wide and 180 pixels tall) that captures how you’re feeling or reminds you of that dream vacation. Then drag, drop, and resize to pick the perfect snapshot.
Add your school, work, and hometown
Help your friends find you by adding some basic information to your profile. Where have you lived, worked, and gone to school? You can search Google+ for people who were in the same place at the same time -- see if you recognize anyone!
Control your privacy settings
Google+ lets you manage who you hear from. Visit the Settings page to choose who can tag you in photos, comment on your posts, and send you notifications. You can also decide who can chat with you through the “Privacy settings” link in the chat bar.
