Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House

The Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House in Georgia, is "a home away from home" for families of Veterans and military service members receiving care at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.  The Fisher House enables families to be close to their loved one during hospitalization by providing comfortable lodging, in a beautiful and relaxing setting, on the grounds of the Uptown Division of the Medical Center. Families stay at the Fisher House for free.

The Dedication Ceremony for the Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Construction of the Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House began at the Uptown Division, located on Wrightsboro Road, in May 2010 and will be completed this summer. As the 19th VA Fisher House, the Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House joins a network of 56 other Fisher Houses at military and VA Medical Centers.

The Augusta CNVAMC Fisher House is a 15,000 square foot home with 20 private guest suites. The common areas and guest suites are professionally designed and beautifully furnished. The Fisher House includes various common areas including,  a kitchen and spacious dining room, a family and living room, large laundry facility with multiple washers and dryers and in-room telephone service.  Most importantly, the Fisher House will have staff and volunteers to support our active service members, Veterans and their families.

The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need.  The Fisher House Foundation donates these "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers.  The local community is asked to raise a portion of the cost of a Fisher House, and the Fisher House Foundation contributes the rest.  Augusta and the Central Savannah Rivera Area (CSRA) non-profit foundations, corporations, businesses, Veterans Service Organizations and members of our community were responsive to the need for a Fisher House in Augusta. We thank them for their assistance in reaching our fund raising goal of $1.8 million dollars.
