House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders responded to the Environmental Protection Agency’s issuance of reconsidered Boiler MACT and Cement MACT rules. In October 2011, the House passed H.R. 2250, the EPA Regulatory Relief Act, and H.R. 2681, the Cement Sector Regulatory Relief Act, directing EPA to re-propose this suite of rules to ensure the regulations are both economically and technically achievable. The House approved H.R. 6672, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2012, by a vote of 383 to 16. Introduced by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), the legislation reauthorizes provisions of the Project Bioshield Act of 2004 and Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act of 2006 for an additional five years. Additionally, H.R. 6672 continues to strengthen the nation's preparedness infrastructure and support development of medical countermeasures to better respond to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear attacks.
