Federal Librarian of the Year
Purpose
To recognize and commend active and innovative leadership and professionalism
in the promotion and development of library and information services during
Fiscal Year 2012 by a federal librarian or information professional.
Description
The award consists of a plaque and a certificate for the individual. FEDLINK
will also cover the cost of travel for the recipient and his/her supervisor
to attend the annual FEDLINK Forum held at the Library of Congress in Washington
D.C., where the award will be presented. A separate plaque, which recognizes
each year's recipients, will be displayed at the FEDLINK offices at the Library
of Congress.
Eligibility
The recipient must be a federal employee and a practicing librarian or information
professional in a federal library or information center. (Note: This is not
intended to be a valedictory award. Award recipients from 2009, 2010 and
2012 are not eligible.)

by the nominee or nominator; nominator must be a federal employee.

Selection Criteria statements (covering achievements during Fiscal Year 2012, not to exceed one page for each of the first two criteria, and one page each for the three professional competencies; cite specific examples and any supporting quantifiable data from Fiscal Year 2012 only):
- Active and innovative leadership during Fiscal Year 2012 in the advancement of library and information services. (20 Points)
- Promotion and development of library and information services in support of the organization's mission in Fiscal Year 2012. Include brief statements of both agency and library missions , size and budget of library or information center, and size and identity of user population served. (20 Points)
- Demonstration in Fiscal Year 2012 of exceptional professional competency in three of the professional Competencies for Federal Librarians, cited in a document prepared by the FLICC Human Resources Working Group (Rev 2011). Clearly state selected competencies and address each on a separate sheet. (60 Points).
- For each area, include suporting, quantifiable data such as statistics, cost savings to the institution, program changes, projects completed, etc .
Supporting Materials (limited to three items)
Supporting materials are encouraged and may include testimonials, managerial endorsements, newspaper articles, etc., that relate to accomplishments in Fiscal Year 2012 only.

faxed no later than Friday, January 18, 2013. If
a nominator does not receive confirmation of the nomination by Friday, January 18, 2013, please

to the Federal Library and Information Center Committee (FEDLINK) at (202)
707-4825. The
FEDLINK Awards Working Group will receive and screen applications and submit
a list of finalists to the FEDLINK Executive Board. The FEDLINK Executive Board
will make the final selection and announce the winners at the FEDLINK Membership Meeting in the spring of 2013.
