Richard C. Vie
Chairman of the Board of Directors, U.S. Navy Memorial
Mr. Vie is Chairman Emeritus of Unitrin Inc., a financial services company providing insurance and consumer finance products and services.
Mr. Vie began his insurance career in St. Louis in 1962. In 1979, he joined Commonwealth Life and Accident Insurance Company, where he served as President for four years. He joined the Unitrin group of companies in 1983 as President of United Insurance.
He served as a naval aviator from 1958 to 1962. He was attached to an Airborne Early Warning squadron operating out of Barbers Point, Hawaii, and flew VW-2 “Super Connies,” serving as Aircraft Commander from 1960 to 1962 operating out of Midway Island.
Mr. Vie also serves on the board of directors of the Executives’ Club of Chicago, and just finished his term as Chairman in September. In addition, he serves on the boards of Valparaiso University and the Concordia University Wisconsin Foundation. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He lives in Chicago.
John Totushek
Vice Admiral, United States Navy Reserve, Retired

Vice Admiral John Totushek is a native of Minneapolis, Minn. A 1966 graduate of the University of Minnesota, he earned his commission through a Naval ROTC scholarship and was designated a pilot upon completion of flight training in June 1968.
Admiral Totushek began his Naval Aviation career flying the F-4 Phantom in Florida and Virginia-based squadrons. In November 1973, he resigned his regular commission and accepted a commission in the Naval Reserve. During the next 24 years, Vice Admiral Totushek served in numerous capacities with the Naval Reserve and several civilian companies.
In the Naval Reserve, he served as Commanding Officer of numerous commands, including three Virginia-based air-combat training squadrons and Atlantic Fleet air support commands. Also, as a Reservist, he held senior strategic and management positions within the Navy, including command of the Atlantic Fleet's Logistics Task Force and the Southeast Region's Naval Reserve Readiness Command. In addition, he served as the deputy director for Naval Air Warfare.
In his civilian career, Vice Admiral Totushek founded a Virginia-based construction firm and served as its president from 1973 until 1980. He then
joined a series of construction companies including The Murray Company as its regional manager. While with the firm, he completed some of the best-known office buildings and parks in the Tidewater area of Virginia.
In early 1997, Vice Admiral Totushek was asked to return to active duty to lead the Navy's environmental, safety and occupational health programs. He then was selected as Commander, Naval Reserve Force on Oct. 17, 1998. His duties include command of 88,000 Naval Reservists and 181 nation-wide Reserve facilities valued at $3.1 billion. In that capacity Admiral Totushek also represented the Naval Reserve before Congress and on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. He was promoted to Vice Admiral on 24 May 2001.
On November 1, 2003 he retired from active duty and became a Senior Vice President of The Staubach Company where he headed the Public Sector Practice. In July, 2008 The Staubach Company was purchased by Jones Lang LaSalle where Admiral Totushek was the Managing Director of the Construction Division for the Mid-Atlantic market.
Vice Admiral Totushek's awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various service and campaign awards. He currently resides in Arlington, VA with his wife, Janet.

RADM Jon W. Bayless, Jr., USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral Bayless is the Senior Business Development Manager for Maritime Services for Sypris Electronics. He retired from the Navy in October 2009. His last Navy assignment was in the Pentagon serving as Deputy Chief, Navy Reserve.
John B. Burke
Mr. Burke is Managing Director of Horizon Business Advisors, LLC, an advisory services and merchant banking firm. His consulting career includes twenty five years with Accenture in its global energy and information technology practices. Mr. Burke served in the Navy as a surface warfare officer from 1969 to 1977, aboard the USS Holder and USS Catawba.
RADM John D. Butler, USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral Butler served 31 years on active duty as a Submariner and Engineering Duty Officer, with his last flag officer assignment being Program Executive Officer Submarines. He joined Lockheed Martin upon retiring from the Navy in 2005 and is Vice President, Fleet Ballistic Missile Program for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company.
John P. Cosgrove
Mr. Cosgrove has been Secretary of the Board since 1986. He was the Chairman of the Navy Memorial Dedication Committee, and Senior Past President of the National Press Club. He is now a communications consultant. His Navy service was on Destroyer Escorts from 1942 to 1946 in the South Pacific.
Joanne Crown
Ms. Crown serves her community as a philanthropist. She is the widow of the late Captain Robert Crown, USNR, of Chicago, Illinois.
Robert C. Dorion
Mr. Dorion is a business entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and a Navy veteran—having served on active duty for two years and in the Navy Reserves for seven years.
Ted Dunn
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer
Ted Dunn is the executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. He is a founding member of the company and has served in this capacity since June, 2009.
Prior to founding Salient, he served as the executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of SI International, a mid-tier government information technology company from 2001 thru 2008. At SI, he led the IPO in November of 2002 and he participated in numerous follow on offerings, credit arrangements and acquisition transactions as well as the eventual sale of the company to Serco in December, 2008. Prior to SI, Ted held numerous senior financial positions with Capital One, GSI and Computer Sciences Corporation. He began his professional career with Price Waterhouse & Co.
Theodore L. Dysart
Theodore L. Dysart is a Vice Chairman with Heidrick & Struggles where he is a leader in the Global Board of Directors Practice and an active member of the CEO search practice. Ted is responsible for senior-level executive search assignments and is a functional specialist, working exclusively on board, CEO and succession planning engagements. He has placed more than 500 executives on the boards of Fortune 500, mid-cap and private companies. BusinessWeek ranked him as one of the 150 most influential head hunters in the world, Executive Search Review named him one of six “executive recruiters to watch” in 2004. In 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011, he was named to the Directorship 100, a listing of the most influential individuals in corporate governance by Directorship magazine. In 2011, he was named to the list of “Rising Stars of Corporate Governance” by the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at Yale University. A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Ted was a member of the first class to receive a bachelor’s degree in management information systems. Dr. Barry Hannah
Dr. Hannah, of Hannah Associates, is the Head of the Reentry Systems Branch for the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs and is the preeminent aerospace engineering leader for strategic nuclear re-entry systems.
MCPON James L. Herdt, USN (Ret)

Hon. Charles L. Hopkins III, P.E.
Mr. Hopkins served 30 years on active duty earning warfare qualifications in Submarines (enlisted and officer) and as a Surface Warfare Officer. Since retiring from active duty in 1999, Mr. Hopkins spent much of this past decade working for the White House in leadership roles at the Department of Treasury, FEMA and the Department of Veterans Affairs. His last position was the Assistant Secretary for Operations, Security, and Preparedness at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Hopkins is currently the Vice President and General Manager of Global Services & Solutions, Inc. in Arlington, Virginia.
Jeffrey J. Kibben
Mr. Kibben is a Booz Allen Hamilton Navy/Marine Corps partner and has 30 years of professional experience, including 20 years in program, acquisition, engineering management and technical support services for the Navy’s acquisition authorities for command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) and IT. Before joining Booz Allen, Mr. Kibben served nearly 7 years as a U.S. Navy Intelligence Officer.
Thomas R. Kuhn
Mr. Kuhn is president of the Edison Electric Institute, the national association of the shareholder-owned electric companies that produce about 70 percent of the electricity generated in the United States. He has served as White House Liaison Officer to the Secretary of the Navy under Presidents Nixon and Ford, and as a supply officer aboard the USS Willard Keith.
Dr. J. Phillip London
Dr. London is Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of CACI International, Inc., a pacesetter in IT and Communications Solutions across markets throughout North America and Western Europe. He joined CACI in 1972 and, from 1984–2007, was its President and CEO. Dr. London is a 1959 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served on active duty as an aviator for 12 years during the Cold War. He served another 12 years in the Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain.
Jonathan T. “Toby” Mack
Mr. Mack is Vice President of the Board. He is also President and CEO of Associated Equipment Distributors, the international trade association representing suppliers to the construction, mining and forestry industries in North America. Mr. Mack was deployed with the Seventh Fleet in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Later he served as Aide and Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Virginia.
CAPT Gary G. Mahle, USN (Ret)
Captain Mahle is the Director of the Advanced Engineering & Sciences Division at ITT Corporation. He served as a line officer on submarines, and as an engineering duty officer and an acquisition specialist at the Strategic Systems Programs organization.
RADM Donald K. Muchow, CHC, USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral Donald K. Muchow served in the United States Navy for 33 years and was the U.S. Navy’s twentieth Chief of Chaplains. As the Chief, he ensured the delivery of ministries to all personnel and their families throughout the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. From 1994-1997, he served also as the Chairman of the Armed Forces Chaplains Board on the staff of the Secretary of Defense. In recent years he has also served as an Interim Pastor with congregations in Houston, Port Isabel and Austin, TX, and assisted the NROTC training unit at the University of Texas.
Robert E. Naser
Mr. Naser is President and CEO of Robert E. Naser Realty, which develops commercial real estate in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York and Florida. He served in the Navy Reserve from 1942 to 1950.
Joseph Small, Jr., Esq.
Mr. Small is Partner-in-Charge at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP, an international law firm in Washington, D.C. His naval service was spent in Korea as a Chinese Language Officer under the United Nations Command.
David P. Storch
Mr. Storch serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AAR, a worldwide provider of products and value-added services to the commercial aviation, government and defense industries. Mr. Storch joined AAR in 1979, became the Company’s CEO in 1996 and was named Chairman in 2005. In addition to The United States Navy Memorial Foundation, Mr. Storch serves on the boards of the Chicago Urban League, The Executives’ Club of Chicago, KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation, Unitrin, Inc., and the Wings Club. He currently is a member of the Economics Club of Chicago and the World Presidents’ Organization. Mr. Storch holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ithaca College.
CAPT Edward A. Sundberg, USNR (Ret)
Captain Sundberg is the Chief Executive Officer for the South American Homes Holdings. He is also the Joint Founder of Burruano Group, Inc., a business advisory service. After graduating from the Naval Academy, he served in the Navy as a line officer on submarines for five years and more than 30 years as a Navy Reservist.
RADM William Thompson, USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral Thompson served as the Navy’s Chief of Information from 1971 to 1975. He was the founder and first President of the United States Navy Memorial Foundation, and a recipient of numerous awards, including three Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award.
Victor S. Trione
Mr. Trione is President of Vimark, Inc., a Real Estate Development and Vineyard Management company, and is Chairman of the Board of Luther Burbank Savings & Loan. He formerly was an owner of Geyser Peak Winery in Northern California’s Alexander Valley. He continues a family tradition of serving as a Director of the Navy Memorial. Mr. Trione served in the Navy for two years with the rank of Lieutenant.
RADM Edward K. Walker, Jr., SC, USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral Walker is Treasurer of the Board and a past President and CEO. He is a member of the Board of Visitors at Elon University and a Trustee of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation. He is a past Chairman of the Vinson Hall Corporation and a past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Herley Industries. A 1954 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he spent 34 years in the Supply Corps, ending his career as the 35th Chief of the Navy Supply Corps.

Master Chief Barnes is the National Executive Director of the Fleet Reserve Association, a non-profit organization that represents active, Reserve, retired and veterans of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. RDML Jay A. DeLoach, USN (Ret)
Rear Admiral DeLoach is the 12th Director of Naval History, Naval Historical Center. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1978 and then entered service in submarines and completed ten strategic deterrent patrols. He transitioned to the Reserve Component in 1989 and serviced in various assignments ultimately being selected to flag rank in 2004. His flag assignments included Deputy Commander, Submarine Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; Director of the Submarine Reserves; Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Resources, Requirements and Assessments (OPNAV N8R); and Vice Chairman, National Naval Reserve Policy Board.
