I’m happy to announce that I’ll be the MC for the “Converge on the Captiol” event in Bismarck this year. It’s a bi-annual event put on by a coalition of conservative groups aimed for the beginning of the legislative session. The intent is for conservatives and libertarians to come together, talk about their priorities for the upcoming legislative session and communicate those priorities to legislators.

There’s a flyer for the event below (consider emailing it around to your friends, or printing some copies for posting) and you can find out more about the event on the Facebook events page.

Here are the basics:

What: Converge on the Captiol
Where: State capitol, Bismarck
When: Monday January 14th, 11:00am

Hope to see you there!

I’ll be working then, but I wish you the best on it!

“The Governor’s budget will spend the ENTIRE $2 billion state surplus and nothing is returned to the taxpayer.”

I have a concern with that thought process. Exactly which taxpayers should the surplus be returned to, those who paid in the surplus or those who “deserve” it? If our surplus is due to the oil extraction tax then the money shouldn’t be redistributed to the whole state, the tax should be reduced. It seems to me that we are all getting sucked into the belief that the western third of the state has too much money and they wouldn’t miss some. Socialist redistribution by Republicans in North Dakota is just as wrong and socialist redistribution by democrats in Washington.

I think that’s probably just some awkward wording.

i wouldn’t be in favor of just redistributing the surplus. I’d be for rebates going back to the taxpayers who paid the taxes in proportion to the amounts paid. And, of course, rate cuts.

I have to hand it to you organizing an outside event in the middle of Jan. in ND. hutzpah or just plain old North Dakota toughness. Hint to get too close to any metal microphone or you might become fused to it.

Rob, be sure to try to explain to our republican legislators what a RINO is.
