On First Day of New Congress… Blowhard Alan Grayson Accuses Republicans of Terrorism (Video)

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 8:35 PM

That didn’t take long…
Rep. Alan Grayson opened the new Congress by accusing Republicans of legislative terrorism. Grayson was on with Big Al Sharpton.
Townhall reported, via Free Republic.

“Well, they say it’s a device for them to extract concessions that they have otherwise be able to accomplish, that’s why it’s legislative terrorism. They’re using the debt ceiling as a means to cut Social Security benefits, cut Medicare benefits, cut unemployment insurance, cut anything of any use to any ordinary human being in this country simply because they want more money for tax cuts for the rich.”

He’s so proud of his attack that he posted it on this YouTube page:

Northern Hemisphere Snow Was Greatest on Record in December …(Must Be Global Warming)

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 6:34 PM

Northern Hemisphere December snow extent was the greatest on record, with snow from Canada to Mexico and from Siberia to Iran.
It must be global warming climate change.

Steven Goddard

The record was 9 million square kilometers more than 32 years ago.
(But don’t tell the liberal media.)

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicted the exact opposite, because they have no idea what they are talking about.

Snoop Dogg says he’d love to show his kids how to smoke pot.
BET reported:

Snoop Dogg wants to set a good example for his kids, sometimes in ways that is bound to raise a few eyebrows.

The rapper-turned-reggae star talks to GQ magazine about parenting, and how he hopes to share one of his favorite hobbies with his children. “It’s not that I would ever push weed on our kids,” clarfies Snoop, who has three children from ages 12 to 18, “but if they wanted to, I would love to show them how, the right way, so that way they won’t get nothing put in their s*** or overdose or trying some s*** that ain’t clean.”

Brilliant!… Obama Official: Thanks to Extending Unemployment Benefits “Millions of Jobs Were Saved” (Video)

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 2:25 PM

It’s an Obama world…
Only an Obama official could come up with an economic statement as asinine as this.
Thanks to extending unemployment benefits “millions of jobs were saved.”
Via Zero Hedge:

Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis made her ubiquitous post-NFP appearance on CNBC this morning and spouted the usual propaganda. However, while discussing how wonderful the ATRA was, the seemingly slap-happy Solis noted how great the fact that emergency unemployment benefits were extended for millions of people was – and that thanks to that (and the magic of the Keynesian multiplier), millions of jobs were saved. So, to sum up, paying people not to work, saved millions and millions of jobs?

And you wonder why this is the worst jobs economy since the Great Depression?

Egyptian Lawyers: Muslim Brotherhood Took BILLIONS From Obama

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 1:58 PM

Egyptian lawyers today accused the Muslim Brotherhood of taking 10 billion Egyptian pounds (U.S. $1.5 billion) from the Obama Administration.

Egypt’s Chief Public Prosecutor Talaat Ibrahim has ordered an investigation in an accusation against the Muslim Brotherhood of receiving 10 billion Egyptian pounds from the United States, asking for the sources of the Brotherhood’s money to be revealed. According to Aswat Masriya, the two plaintiffs claimed that the United States granted the Brotherhood the money illegally to back its interests in the region.

Al-Arabiya reported:

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood has been accused of taking 10 billion Egyptian pounds (U.S. $1.5 billion) from the American government, according to claims by Egyptian lawyers.

An immediate investigation into the accusation was ordered by Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah on Thursday.

The lawyers, Mohamed Ali Abd al-Wahab and Yasser Mohamed Sayab, filed the complaint against the Muslim Brotherhood for the allegedly illegal money transaction, Egypt’s private daily Al-Masry Al-Youm reported on Jan. 3.

The complaint noted that Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate for the recent U.S. presidential election, had said that $1.5 billion was given to support Egypt’s Brotherhood by the Obama administration.

In addition, the lawyers accused the Muslim Brotherhood of having armed mercenaries or a “third party,” who have instigated violence during and after the revolutionary uprising in the country.

Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, was found saying in newly translated tapes from 2010, “No peace with the descendants of apes and pigs.”

On Saturday, January 5th – THOUSANDS of Americans to Support Hobby Lobby & Religious Freedom

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 11:41 AM

UPDATE: Please send photos here if you make it out to a Hobby Lobby tomorrow.

Thousands to Join Hobby Lobby Appreciation Day Over Mandate Fight

Stand With Hobby Lobby–

** Find a Hobby Lobby near you.
The Saturday hours are 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The plan:
On Saturday, January 5th, all Americans who value freedom of religion and oppose the HHS Mandate’s unfair impositions upon religious individuals and corporate entities are called upon to show their support for Hobby Lobby by shopping either at their local retail Hobby Lobby store or online.

PLEASE SHARE THIS EVENT WIDELY!

The story until now:
• September 12, 2012: Hobby Lobby files suit against Kathleen Sabelius and the US Department of Health and Human Services in US District Court for Western District of Oklahoma. They are represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.
• November 19, 2012: District Judge Joe Heaton rules that privately owned companies such as Hobby Lobby are not exempt from the HHS Mandate on religious grounds because these enterprises do not possess the same religious rights as individuals and religious organizations do.
• December 20, 2012: The US Court of Appeals in Denver rules against Hobby Lobby on the same grounds as the lower court; the Green family vows to appeal to the US Supreme Court.
• December 26, 2012: Justice Sonia Sotomayor rejects an emergency request for injunction that would allow Hobby Lobby temporary exemption from the HHS Mandate pending the hearing of their full case before the high court.
• December 27, 2012: Hobby Lobby’s attorneys announce that the chain plans to defy the Mandate which will take effect January 1st, potentially costing the chain (which employs 13,000) hundreds of millions of dollars in fines by the time their case is finally decided.

The letter from Hobby Lobby CEO David Green that LifeNews received follows:

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God‘s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby – and my family – are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

Please support this great company and this great cause.
Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow!

Obama Supporters Hit Hardest in Latest Jobs Report – Blacks, Hispanics and Young Adults Continue to Suffer

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 9:52 AM

Obama supporters continue to suffer the most in the latest jobs report. Blacks, Hispanics and young adults suffer the most under this administration.

Hope and change, baby. Hope and change.

(Dem Blog)

The national unemployment rate is 7.8% (not counting the millions who dropped out of the market.)
The Herald Online reported:

  • The overall unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds for December 2012 is 11.5 percent (NSA).
  • The unemployment rate for 18-29 year old African-Americans for December 2012 is 22.1 percent (NSA); the unemployment rate for 18-29 year old Hispanics for December 2012 is 12.2 percent (NSA); and the unemployment rate for 18–29 year old women for December 2012 is 10.4 percent (NSA).
  • The declining labor force participation rate has created an additional 1.7 million young adults that are not counted as “unemployed” by the U.S. Department of Labor because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs.
  • If the labor force participation rate were factored into the 18-29 unemployment calculations, the actual Millennial unemployment rate would rise to 16.3 percent (NSA).

Figures. Eleven Months After Obama Praises US Furniture Company at White House – The Company Goes Bust

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 9:36 AM

He’s got that magic touch.
Eleven months ago Barack Obama praised Lincolnton Furniture Company at the White House.

But that was eleven months ago.
Lincolnton just went bust.
The Miami Herald reported:

Lincolnton Furniture Company closed abruptly Thursday just one year after it was hailed by President Barack Obama as an example of the recovering U.S. economy.

Furniture-making operations stopped indefinitely and only a few people will remain employed moving forward, company financial officer Ben Causey said.

“I don’t know where it’s going to go exactly; we’re still evaluating our situation,” Causey said. “We just didn’t have any choice at this point.”

The company was not receiving the orders it needed to sustain its operations, Causey said.

“We needed more orders is really what it boiled down to,” he said. “We thought they would materialize.”

Owner Bruce Cochrane, a fifth generation furniture-manufacturer, formed the company in 2011 with a $5 million investment and the hope he could make a profit off people who wanted to buy furniture made in America.

It was a move that caught the attention of North Carolina officials and those in the White House. Last year, Cochrane sat with the first lady during Obama’s 2012 State of the Union Address. He also joined the president and other business leaders in a discussion about how to create more jobs at home.

Figures. Obama Sticks It to Workers Making Less Than $30,000 a Year

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, January 4, 2013, 9:12 AM

Barack Obama sticks it to poor people.

Under the new fiscal cliff plan workers making less than $30,000 a year will take a bigger hit than those making $500,000 a year.
The Daily Mail reported:

Middle-class workers will take a bigger hit to their income proportionately than those earning between $200,000 and $500,000 under the new fiscal cliff deal, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

Earners in the latter group will pay an average 1.3 percent more – or an additional $2,711 – in taxes this year, while workers making between $30,000 and $200,000 will see their paychecks shrink by as much as 1.7 percent – or up to $1,784 – the D.C.-based think tank reported.

Overall, nearly 80 percent of households will pay more money to the federal government as a result of the fiscal cliff deal.

‘The economy needs a stimulus, but under the agreement, taxes will go up in 2013 relative to 2012 – not only on high-income households, as widely discussed, but also on every working man and woman in the country, via the end of the payroll tax cut,’ said William G. Gale, co-director of the Tax Policy Center.

‘For most households, the payroll tax takes a far bigger bite than the income tax does, and the payroll tax cut therefore – as [the Congressional Budget Office] and others have shown – was a more effective stimulus than income tax cuts were, because the payroll tax cuts hit lower in the income distribution and hence were more likely to be spent,’ he added.
