Worst. Apocalypse. Ever.

Photobucket

Yeah, so it's like I surmised earlier this year: the Mayans just ran out of room on their rock. Modern man stumbled upon what equates to a Mayan Day Planner™ and started a big freak out over the fact that it ended. Too bad the Mayans didn't have an Office Depot™ or Staples™. Those folks could have hooked them up in the calendar department. So what's the History channel going to present now? Bigfoot sightings? A dive for the Loch Ness monster? More alien encounters? ::ugh::

I'm just glad to get more time on this rock :-D  "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night." 1Thessalonians 5:2

Cleaning House (again)

 Photobucket
Roughly a month away from Mayan crap hitting the universal fan.

I'm taking a page from Spleenville and culling through old posts. Folks who follow this blog are familiar with my periodic need to walk away from this blog or shut it down altogether and what not. It's about that time again but what's got me this time is a reassessment of my opinions on all things great and small. Politics and infringements on independence are usually the driving force behind most of my posts.

Instead of shutting down, I'm archiving and eliminating old posts that no longer serve me. 'Reassessment' is the keyword here. It's just old shit that needs to go. I go back and check out some of what I've written just to see what was going on at the time and where my head was in all of it. Part of focusing on what's important is eliminating the superfluous. Much of this blog is just that: superfluous. Some of my thoughts I feel are spot on, some are underdeveloped or formed based on what I want to see happen versus what comprises the entirety of an instance. Some are just plain old fashioned snark. My goal is to have this done before the year is out (or before we found out if the Mayans were right). At the end of the day, it's just another blog.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving holiday and thanks for checking in ;-)

The Sun Still Shines

"The sun still shines*..."on idiots and intellects equally.

I can relate with Susie Bee (commentor at Stilton's Hope n'Change political cartoon blog) when she writes, "...I haven't been so shocked since the O.J verdict was announced..." though in my heart I knew a Romney win was a pleasant fiction.

Face it: conservatives didn't pool behind Romney until he was the last man standing. Romney supporters were more ABO in the beginning only warming to him about three quarters of the way through the campaign. Momentum for the Romney campaign didn't pick up until he chose Ryan as his running mate. But really, why dwell? We all know elections are more political theater than anything of real substance. All the shirts, buttons, flags, and phone calls only add up to a hill of high hopes. The morning after is the reality–a helluva kick in the head for many as working class America finds itself at the crossroads. Today should leave no doubt as to exactly what kind of people populate America. We are looking at another four years of gridlock and class warfare. Sadly the entitlement crowd  and celebrity sycophants won and they are painfully oblivious to just how high the cost of 'winning' is. I'm not spending the next four years sweating this administration. I've got a life to get on with and a future to build with my own and those I care for. I strongly advise you to adopt a similar plan. Do your utmost and focus on what matters.

UPDATE: Pat in Shreveport posts:

"This (the U. S. Constitution) is our first arm of defense against the downward spiral that faces us.  We still have separation of powers.

Kate Obenshain posted this Thomas Jefferson quote this morning and I think it's appropriate:
To preserve the independence of the people, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. Considering the general tendency to multiply offices and dependencies, and to increase expense to the ultimate term of burden which the citizen can bear, may it never be seen here that ... government shall itself consume the residue of what it was instituted to guard. To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, "the guaranty to every one of a free exercise of his industry, and the fruits acquired by it."
Thomas Jefferson in a letter to Samuel Kercheval (12 July 1816).
I will fight every effort of this government to take the product of my work and give it to those who don't want to work.  I will help those who can not work, but I will not support those who can and don't.  Those people are choosing servitude to the government; I am not."

Sounds like a plan to me ;-)

Obama: "Ich Bin Ein Bullslinger!"

Photobucket

The following sums up 'the Anointed One's' past four years pretty well.
--------------------------
The Plan.

In the beginning, there was the Plan, and then came the Assumptions.
And the Assumptions were without form, and the Plan was without substance.
And darkness was upon the faces of the Workers, and they spoke among themselves saying, "It's a crock of shit, and it stinks."
And the Workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and we can't live with the smell."
And the Supervisors went unto their Managers saying, "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."
And the Managers went unto their Directors saying, "It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide by its strength."
And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another, "It contains that which aids growth, and it is very strong."
And the Directors went to the Vice Presidents saying unto them, "It promotes growth, and it is very powerful."
And the Vice Presidents went to the President saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote growth and vigor of the company with very powerful effects."

And the President looked upon the Plan, and said that it was good.

And the Plan then became Policy.
