Since posting our list of the 12 best political rants this morning, we’ve gotten several more nominees.
The six below stand out to us as deserving to be a part of the list:
Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) says he wants a duel with Chris Matthews
“You get in my face, I’m gonna get back in your face.”
Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) challenges the House to expel him
A sampling: “Am I different? Yeah. Deep down, you know you want to wear wider bottoms; you’re just not secure enough. … Do I do my hair with a Weed Whacker? I admit.”
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) calls federal prosecutors “cowards and liars”
About the only difference between the Traficant and Blagojevich rants is that Blagojevich’s hair was real.
Ed Muskie defends his wife
This 1972 speech was remembered more for the presidential candidate apparently crying, but he was combative too.
Rep. Marion Berry’s (D-Ark.) “Howdy Doody Looking Nimrod”
Berry was referring to boyish, red-headed Rep. Adam Putnam (R-Fla.).
Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-Mass.) “When does the greed stop?”
Kennedy at his fieriest.
