CLEVELAND - A South Euclid Army veteran was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.
Sgt. Larry Patterson grew up in Cleveland and joined the Army in 1967. After 19 months in Vietnam, he was stationed in Korea, and then spent the rest of his military career as a recruiter.
On Monday, Sen. Sherrod Brown gave Sgt. Patterson 13 total medals, including the meritorious service medal, the good conduct medal and the Army commendation medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters.
“Ohio’s veterans have made invaluable contributions to our fight for worldwide peace and democracy. Our state’s service members have answered the call to action without delay throughout our nation’s history,” Brown said in a news release on Monday.
