Biography

Tom Marino embodies the opportunities America presents through education and hard work.

Tom Marino's father, Joseph, was a fireman and janitor, and Tom's mother, Vivian, was a homemaker. They both worked very hard to provide for their family and Tom's mother still lives in the family house in Williamsport.

After high school, Tom Marino worked in a manufacturing job until, at the age of 30, he decided to go to college and law school.

Tom started his secondary studies at Williamsport Area Community College. Tom Marino graduated magna cum laude from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Education.

After graduation, Tom Marino attended the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA where he received his law degree. During his law school years, Tom studied abroad in Italy, Austria and France.

Tom Marino started his law career with the law firm of McNerney, Page, Vanderlin & Hall in Williamsport.
Tom was elected by the citizens of Lycoming County to serve as their District Attorney in 1991 and served in that position from 1992 to 2002.

In 2002 Tom was selected to serve as United States Attorney, the chief law enforcement officer in the region.

While serving as U.S. Attorney, Tom Marino worked to protect the citizens of Central and Northeast Pennsylvania. Tom Marino was known for cracking down on organized crime and drug trafficking during his term.

Tom Marino then went to work as a business law attorney for a private management firm, a Northeast Pennsylvania company. He resigned that position in December 2009 to concentrate on seeking the 10th Congressional seat.

During that service, Tom continued his life - long education experiences by attending the Top Gun PA X training classes at the Fort Indiantown Gap, being the first U.S. Attorney to do so. The course taught valuable new techniques in investigating and prosecuting drug crimes. He also attended a national security session at the United States Army War College at the Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania.

Tom Marino and his wife, Edie, have two children, Chloe, 14 and Victor, 10. They live outside Williamsport in Lycoming County.

Tom Marino has been active in civic activities and charities too numerous to mention. He has always believed it extremely important to give back to his community through public service.
