  4. Here is my statement on the new Congress. We have a tough road ahead of us and must remain focused on the economy, pro-growth tax reform, cutting spending, and regulatory reform. I also plan to spend a great deal of time working on energy and water issues.

  7. The Senate’s fiscal cliff bill is a disappointing attempt to address a crisis everyone knew was coming a year ago. Not only does the Senate’s plan lack deficit reduction, it actually adds new spending and gives government more money. It completely ignores the issue of entitlement reform, which must be dealt with if we’re ever truly to get our fiscal house back in order.

Our nation deserves better ideas and bigger thinking - a plan that includes pro-growth tax policies and actually requires the government to live within its means.
  8. Fiscal cliff negotiations continue and it is my hope that we keep our focus on spending. Republicans are serious about getting our fiscal house back in order and have already taken action to reduce the deficit, avert the fiscal cliff and implement needed reforms. We are back in Washington and waiting for the Senate to either act on our bills or propose a plan of its own. So far, neither has hap...pened.

I am also urging leadership not to let the farm bill slip through the cracks. It begins reverting back to 1948 law on January 1, and our nation's agricultural producers need a modern policy framework in order to plan for the future. The farm bill has been put on the back burner for far to long, and it is time to move it forward.

  9. No words will undo the loss of life or the innocence shattered today. As a father, my heart aches at the very thought of such violence. What happened today was not carried out by a human but by a soulless monster. I pray for peace and comfort for these families and the community, knowing that all America shares in the grief.
  10. As a follow up to my op-ed and teletown hall this week on the fiscal cliff, here is a chart that illustrates why spending is our problem.

  11. In Colorado we have seen how fossil fuels and clean tech have created tens of thousands of high paying jobs. I have always believed that our nation's energy sector can drive our economic recovery. That is why we need to provide a stable regulatory environment so these companies can continue to hire and plan for the future.
  12. Thanks to the thousands of people who joined me last night for the live teletown hall. We discussed the fiscal cliff and what will happen at the end of the year if Congress does not act to prevent taxes from increasing. I highlighted that it is out of control spending that has gotten us into this mess. I look forward to more teletown halls in the future.

  15. President Obama’s tax increase would generate enough revenue to run the federal government for about eight days. Just eight days! Here is my take on what we can do to avoid the fiscal cliff - it involves growing the economy, reforming mandatory spending, and not raising taxes.
