American Job Creators

-- Randy’s Roundup --

A Weekly Newsletter from Congressman Randy Neugebauer

August 22, 2011

American Job Creators

I continue to hear from small business owners in the 19th District of Texas about the federal government’s impact on creating jobs. You are speaking out, and I am listening. The American people are fed up with the Washington attitude of spending money it does not have and forcing rules and regulations on small businesses and families. This approach to our economic woes has resulted in devastating ramifications to the economy, unemployment numbers and America’s credit rating.

House Republicans have passed a budget for 2012 that would significantly lower spending levels and preserve America’s credit rating. As only one-half of one-third of the government, House Republicans are hoping Democrats in the Senate and President Obama will begin to understand the dire effect more government and the corresponding uncertainty has on small businesses and job creators.

I encourage all small business owners in the 19th District of Texas to continue to share their opinions and views on the federal government’s impact on the economy. I am committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to help American job creators, but I need to hear from you. Small businesses provide not only services and products to the community, but create jobs that can grow the economy and put America back on the right track.

Current Events in Values Issues

Recently, I cosponsored CIANA, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, which would make it a Federal crime to transport a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion, for the purpose of evading a parental consent law or parental notification law in the minor’s home state. I also signed a letter on June 22nd to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ regarding their decision to reject Indiana’s Medicaid State Plan Amendment to limit funding to Medicaid providers that perform abortions or operate facilities where abortions are performed. I will continue to fight for the rights of the unborn and speak out for those who do not yet have a voice.

Earlier this summer, I signed a letter to the Secretary of the Navy condemning the decision to prepare chaplains to ignore the Defense of Marriage Act and celebrate same-sex marriages on bases where same-sex marriage is legal in the state. I also signed on to a letter to President Obama on June 16th requesting that he refrain from moving forward with Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal until Congress has had sufficient time to review pending legislative matters. I believe we must preserve the integrity of our military’s identity as a diverse, unique and powerful American institution.
