The Library of Congress began implementation of the new guidelines for Korean transliteration and word division (PDF - 65 p.; 748K) on all bibliographic records and authority records newly created as of March 15, 2009. Following an extended period for comment, the final guidelines went into effect on October 1, 2009. LC has begun to perform bibliographic file maintenance (BFM) to bring authority records and LC bibliographic records into conformance with the revised guidelines. The Library has been preparing a plan for making changes to authority and bibliographic files to bring them into conformance with the new guidelines. Needed changes will be prioritized, and their extent estimated. The plan will be announced later this winter.
